Mark DiBona, DIRECTOR, is currently a Patrol Sergeant with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office in Sanford Florida. Mark began his Law Enforcement career in 1985 with the Braintree Police Department in Massachusetts and the Amtrak Police Department in Boston, prior to moving to Florida. From a result of Police Officer stress and trauma issues, Mark battled with suicidal ideation and nearly took his own life. Through treatment and the support and assistance of his wife, he was able to overcome these issues. Mark has been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Depression. Mark is dedicated to advocating for the elimination of stigma concerning mental health issues, prevention of suicide and self-harm. Mark is a Police Academy Instructor, he speaks about Police stress and trauma issues to Police Academy students by telling them his story and the importance of Mental Health in Law Enforcement, utilizing Badge of Life programs. Also, he speaks to other Law Enforcement Officers, Agencies and others about Police Officer Mental Health issues. Mark has lost four Law Enforcement friends to suicide. Mark is a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and Rock and Roll music.
